How to Fix Windows 11 Printer Queue Stuck

A stuck print queue can prevent new documents from printing even when the printer is online. Check the queue, connection, and printer service in sequence so you do not remove jobs unnecessarily.

1. Check the printer and connection

Make sure the printer is powered on, has paper and ink or toner, and displays no hardware warning. For Wi-Fi printers, confirm it is connected to the same network as the PC. For USB, reconnect the cable and try another port.

2. Cancel the stuck document

Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, select your printer, and open its print queue. Try cancelling the stalled job. If several jobs are listed, cancel only those you no longer need and wait briefly for the queue to update.

3. Set the correct default printer

Return to Printers & scanners and select the intended device. If Windows manages the default printer automatically, check that the last-used printer is the one you expect. Also make sure the printer is not set to Pause Printing or Use Printer Offline in its queue menu.

4. Restart the Print Spooler

Save active work. Search Windows for Services, open it, find Print Spooler, and choose Restart. Try printing a small test page. If the service will not start or repeatedly stops, note any error message.

5. Restart devices

Turn off the printer, restart the PC, and then turn the printer back on. Give it time to reconnect to the network before submitting another job.

6. Update or reinstall the printer driver

Check Windows Update or the printer manufacturer’s official support page for the exact model. If the issue began after a driver change, check whether a supported rollback is available. Avoid installing drivers from third-party download sites.

7. Test with another document or app

Try a simple text document or test page. If that works, the original file or application may be responsible. If every job remains stuck, record the printer model, connection type, and any displayed error before contacting support.

Bottom line: Inspect the queue and offline/pause settings, restart Print Spooler, then check the connection and correct driver.
