A Windows 11 touchpad that stops responding can be caused by a disabled setting, driver problem, or hardware issue.
## Method 1: Enable the touchpad
Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad and make sure the Touchpad switch is on. Also check your laptop’s function keys for a touchpad-disable button.
## Method 2: Restart the laptop
Save your work and restart Windows. Temporary driver and shell problems can disappear after a reboot.
## Method 3: Check the driver
Open Device Manager and inspect Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices. Update the touchpad driver. If the problem started after an update, check whether Roll Back Driver is available.
